Terry Pheto won over the hearts of millions in Tsotsi, to the point that she stood up at the Academy Awards in 2006 and walked off the stage with an Oscar in hand. Two years later Pheto was named the face of L’Oreal Paris. Come 2011 she’s become a Los Angeles resident after being cast in the international soap The Bold And The Beautiful. Legit caught up with her to find out what happens behind the scenes in that special place called her wardrobe.
Describe your personal style. Classic, elegant and timeless.
Who are your favourite designers? Thula Sindi and Herve Leger.
Which international fashion icon inspired your style? Marilyn Monroe.
Which local designers do you love and why? Thula Sindi. There's a beautiful feminine and elegance to all his designs.
What was your favourite fashion decade and why? Definitely the ’50s – it was the era for more curvaceous women.
Do you have any items that you’ve nicked from your mother’s wardrobe? Yes – a classic trench coat with a fur collar.
Which fashion item did you live in when you were younger? A pair of denim jeans and a cute T-shirt were my staples.
Hmm... do you own anything from LEGiT? Yes, a few items actually.
Do you have an item in the back of your wardrobe that you’ll never wear? Nope. If I can't wear it, then don’t keep it.
Describe your last fashion faux pas. I have fun with fashion. You can’t go wrong when you’re having fun.
