Wandile Molebatsi started his career in television as a teenage presenter on DStv’s KTV. Since then he’s completed a degree in Drama and Film at Wits University, while dabbling in music too. As a self-taught djembe-player and percussionist, his role in M-Net’s The Wild soapie is what keeps him out of trouble between his many other TV and movie roles. And when he’s not in front of the camera, you can spot him as a performer in the group Uju. LEGiT tracked down the multi-talented star to find out whether his dress-sense matches his crowd-pleasing talent.
What is the most important style item in your wardrobe?
I would definitely say my Timberland boots. I wear them all the time. They drive my girlfriend crazy!
Do you talk fashion with guy friends?
Not really. My boys are all corporate guys, so they are always going on about killer suits and great ties that they have found! Boring! They are all very stylish though. They feel that I dress like a farmer.
What is your staple outfit for a first date?
I’d say a great shirt, a classic cardigan and a dark pair of denims. And my old faithful (my Timberland boots)
What is the best women’s fashion item you’ve ever seen?
An elegant, fitted winter coat. It’s a must. They always make women look so striking!
Which male celebrity’s style do you like?
I would say Tumisho Masha. He always looks dapper and comfortable. He’s regularly got a perfect balance between groomed and overly metro sexual.
What’s your ideal holiday destination?
Definitely Zanzibar. Went there for the first time with Tim Greene and the Light and Dark team for: SKEEM!!! It’s an amazing island. I love the beach. It’s a great escape from the hustle of the city.
Loafers or sneakers?
Definitely loafers!
Are there any clothes in your wardrobe that you never wear?
Probably the Christmas sweater my cousin, Redifenste made in home economics at school. I’ll never tell her that, but NO WAY!
Guys wearing make-up, what’s your take?
Gentlemen.... No make-up! Please, gents.
