Mirror Mosaic Makeover

Hello darlings!

It’s crafty time once again, and today we’ll be creating a mosaic inspired mirror makeover. When you’re putting your face on in the morning this quirky, folksy little decal will set you off inspired and ready for whatever may lie ahead! The art of mosaic is creating an image with small pieces of tile, glass or other materials. We’re going to try a very simplified version using sticky plastic or vinyl.

So here’s what you’ll need:
•Colourful contact paper (available from stationery stores – usually used to cover books) or vinyl (I got some cheap off cuts from a local sign-making company).
•Scissors
•Craft knife
•Pen or marker
•A mirror ready for making over.

Start by tracing a very simple image on to the sticky plastic. You can download an image online, or create something freehand – but keep it simple! Also cut some irregular squares and rectangles to complete the composition. The easiest way to attach the sticky plastic to the mirror surface is to wet the glass beforehand, peel off the back of the plastic and place the elements in the desired position. I used a little bird motif in silver vinyl with a trail of rectangles (my mosaic pieces) leading to a whimsical heart.

Use a piece of cardboard or a ruler to push out all the bubbles from beneath the plastic. Allow the water to dry – and presto, it’s done!
Now you’ll never be alone as you’re preparing for a big day out!

Stick with me darlings and you’ll always be fabulous!
xoxo
