What you wear says a lot about who you are and the person you’re hoping to attract. If you’re single what you wear isn’t so much for you as it is for attracting the attention of a guy. So here are some fashion tips for girls, from a guy:
Clowning around
Don’t wear red lipstick; it makes you look like a clown. Try a more subtle colour or a shade darker than the one you’re wearing.
Ironic T-shirts
If you’re going for an ironic or funny message on your T-shirt that’s okay, but remember how others might read into what you’re wearing. ‘Too hot too care’ and messages like that can be intimidating and off putting.
What works for you
Buy clothes that work for you. Buying expensive, uncomfortable clothing for one occasion doesn’t make sense. You’re not going to wear it and end up wasting cash you could’ve used for other outfits.
Be practical
Take your job and hangout spots into account when you buy clothes. There’s nothing worse than going to an outdoor event in heels and a formal suit/dress. Dress for the occasion. Also there’s nothing wrong with the jeans/T-shirt combo if you’re just running to the shops.
Colour coordinate
It turns out wearing certain colours can either make or break your outfit. Figure out what colours work for you and dress accordingly.
Size matters
I can’t tell you how many girls get this wrong. Find out the right size for you and don’t buy anything smaller or larger than what you should be wearing. Clothing that’s too tight won’t last as long.
Multi-seasonal
Buy fabrics that can be worn all year round. A heavy wool jacket can only be worn during winter, but a light-weight blend can be used no matter the occasion.
Accessorise
Even a dull outfit, and you really shouldn’t own one, can be boosted by simple accessories. You’ll be amazed how a simple scarf or jewellery can transform an outfit.
Quality or quantity
Notice how owning many cheap items don’t last long as that quality jacket you’ve had for years? There’s a reason those items were cheap and that’s because they’re cheaply made.
Get the basics right
Following the trend of the moment is a quick way to being broke. Don’t build your wardrobe on trends. Trends pass and you’ll look dated.
