Ty Keogh was born to be a movie star, his dad is a successful actor and his mom’s a producer. Having been surrounded by the business from an early age growing up in Johannesburg, Keogh’s done well in carving out his own space in the industry. He's also just been named GQ South Africa's Best Dressed Man for 2012! LEGiT snuck a look into his wardrobe to find out what fashion works for this magnetic personality.
What is the most important style item in your wardrobe?
I'd have to say my denims. It's my everyday wardrobe- both functional and fashionable. It's the most versatile and worn item I own.
Do you talk fashion with guy friends?
With certain friends I most certainly do. I think dressing well is something that doesn't come easily to some people, but I don't know of many people who choose to dress badly. Many people are blissfully ignorant of trends and style, but if you can impart any knowledge or advice, then why not?
What is your staple outfit for a first date?
There is no staple; it's always going to be venue and activity specific. At a restaurant, it's got to be a dinner jacket with a shirt, or T-shirt plus denims and probably ankle boots, but dates vary, so anything goes!
What is the best women’s fashion item you’ve ever seen?
Black stilettos get me every time.
Which male celebrity’s style do you like?
Daniel Craig and Ryan Gosling
Who’s the hottest female celeb when it comes to style?
That's something I really don't pay much attention to. If a woman looks good, she looks good. I don't question it much more than that.
What’s your ideal holiday destination?
White sands, warm water and 6ft offshore barrels, with enough culture and good food to keep my partner (hoping I have one) happily entertained while I surf.
Do you rock skinny denims?
I was cursed with skinny genes, specifically in my legs, so skinny denims just make sense. I have several pairs.
Loafers or sneakers?
There is a time and place for both and there are examples of both that should be avoided at all costs. A man who wears white leather loafers should never be trusted.
Are there any clothes in your wardrobe that you never wear?
Anything remotely camouflage or khaki. After two years of uniforms on The Wild, I've had my fair share of bush and combat attire.
Guys wearing make-up – what’s your take?
Each to their own. I wear it for work, so it doesn't shock me. Do whatever makes you feel confident and happy; it's not my place to judge.
What’s your top item for impressing a date?
If she's impressed by items, she's not the kind of girl I want to be dating.
